3G 5600 dpi Razer Mamba mouse

Ok, hands up those of you who attended the presentation of this mouse without having to feel the pulse, slowed only by the price. About two years later, Razer has announced the revised and (hopefully) correct Mamba: 4G. The price of 4G will be the current version of 3G (3.5G to be precise), and many hope to get their hands on the old version taking advantage of some deals. If not, give us the rope because we got full price for highly motivated by this excuse :)

While waiting for our dear courier, we tried a bit 'online from comments of those who have already purchased. Many critics, many promises to fix (after two years) with new drivers and indeed the latter were issued on May 3 with a new firmware. A few days later the package was at home.

Being invoiced a mouse in one package thus leads to the sensation that all lovers should try at least once. A large transparent display case (plastic ok) keeps our Mamba, perched on a pedestal too transparent. On the bottom of the shrine kept the usual accompanying paper of Razer.

Being a product undated, with dozens and dozens of reviews online, we can skip the pleasantries and go to the sore spots.

In wireless mode is almost useless. The battery does not last long, 3 to 6 hours, depending on how you use the mouse. Soon goes into standby and it can be annoying when browsing: read a text for a minute, click and there you go for that second of lag that is repeated several times a day becomes long and tedious. The cursor often goes about his business and sometimes freezes, forcing you to restart the mouse two or three times before returning to life.

In wired mode, things improve a bit. ' Meanwhile the terror ends of the battery when you play. Then improves the reliability of movement and we're not talking about some small pixels, but the difference between wanting to select a word in a text and be shown the entire line! This aspect also improves raising DPI, of course, provided that we are savvy enough to know how to "tame".

The biggest problem, one that can really make the overall experience (not just gaming) is quoted unpleasant freeze the cursor. This phenomenon affects in a completely random: it can happen twice in a day or once in a week. The problem is that happens during the sessions, and online gaming concern brake engagement. When connected to the cable resuscitation takes even more time. It is to disconnect and reconnect the cable a couple of times, playing with the on-off while it is disconnected. In short, a failure that leads to curse this mouse, and every dollar spent on it.

By testing with different pad and then with a simple white sheet, we understand that the problem may just be the color of the surface. Even during the blocks, if instead of doing the work mentioned above we simply pass the mouse for a few seconds on a white surface, it will function properly.

Last problem in the area around the sensor. Here are two concentric circles, close to a sensor and the other larger enclosing it. This is the center pin and as such it comes into contact with the surface. Around, both to the inner part that to the external one, as it happens with all the pins accumulates a bit 'of powder. The problem is that it builds up a bit 'too inside and moving the mouse, sometimes it ends up going to the sensor bloccandovi the cursor. The problem is accentuated if you have dogs / cats / rabbits / guinea pigs / yak to the house, because it seems a magnet for the hairs of our friends.

In conclusion, the Razer Mamba mouse is not a love it or hate it, but perhaps the only example that we love and hate at the same time. The design, along with the whole outline of tactile and visual sensations that accompany it, we do love. Who's got the hands of small / medium will find it invaluable whatever grip. Unfortunately at that price and with such obvious flaws, it will collect too many insults.

So what to do? Take it or not? It depends on your budget. If you can afford the luxury and the risk of trashing hundred-plus euros, is to try. Otherwise better to turn their gaze elsewhere to avoid a painful addiction that causes this mouse because of comfort.

Another tip is to be careful because there is so much to those used rubber. The top, if you clean badly, with time can be removed and goodbye comfort. The side, particularly the strip on the left side, it seems attached with glue economic and subject to go away after a year or so. If you find it used, ask for detailed photos of these parts. Finally, if you have large hands and you are a "palm-grippedi" often end up pressing the two small buttons embedded in the left side, not a great position for you.

We will not abandon the snake but it will continue to try it on different pads and download updates in the future hope of removing the hatred before it devours us, and how many of you have already ordered.

September UPDATE: Tried and no other pad, usual problems. The software crashes when restarting the mouse. Even the white is not possible to provide a text file, the cursor jumps out as we highlight.
